What Target Do I Aim For? -- The Nest -- How to Shoot a Basketball -- Shot Science

Have you ever wondered what target to aim for when you are shooting a basketball?

http://www.shotscience.com

In this video, Tom discusses how to properly aim your shot towards the basket and greatly increase your accuracy. We hope to illustrate that aiming for specific targets on the rim will only hurt your shooting, while softening your focus to the entire diameter of the rim will provide you with a much higher margin for error. Also, your main objective is to put the ball through the rim, so why would you aim for areas that will almost certainly yield consistent misses.

If you're struggling with where to aim, try our suggestion for a target and let us know how it works for you. We know there are many approaches out there (successful for some), but we think this is a great approach for locking in your shooting eye.

Just so you know, there are many more ball handling/dribble videos coming and, of course, tons more videos on all things basketball!!

We look forward to all of your comments! Thanks so much for all the support! We'd love to get a video response from one of you!

Please send our videos or the Shot Science Channel to your friends and family and help us to keep growing and make better videos!!

See you soon!!

Several people asked for a video of Chase's game-situation shooting, so we put together this video of about 5 or 6 games of Chase's playing days at the University of Puget Sound, Washington.

If you want to get recruited, we can put together a highlight video that we will add to our easily searchable database on our other channel, ShotScience Searchlight (http://www.youtube.com/user/Searchlight Sports). College coachs and scouts will have free access to view your talents and you are able to easily send your video to coaches via email. Contact Casey Curtiss at Casey(at)westvalleybasketball.com
