Not Guide Hand, ASSIST Hand!!! -- How to Shoot a Basketball -- Shot Science

Have you ever wondered what your off-hand (non-shooting or "guide" hand) should be doing when you are shooting a basketball?

http://www.shotscience.com

In this video, Coach Tom discusses how to turn your "Guide Hand" into an "Assist Hand." In no uncertain terms, the Assist hand should not be involved at all with the shot once your shooting-arm begins its extension towards the basket; it should only "assist" in supporting the ball as you hold it in the Set Point. As the shot extends, the assist hand releases and falls away. There is no guiding of the shot at all! When you shoot a basketball, you should essentially be shooting a One-Armed shot!!

If you're struggling with where to put your off-hand and how much pressure to use, try our tips and we think you'll be very happy with the results! Let us know what you think in the comments.
